Be Creative Events has announced that London-based DSLR Cinematographer extraordinaire, Philip Bloom, will be conducting a series of workshops in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town this October.
Philip Bloom is one of the new breed of digital cinematographers. Over the past 4+ years he has become one of the leading world evangelists for the low budget film look as well as one of the largest influences on DSLRs for video by utilizing cameras like the Canon 5DmkII and more recently the Sony FS100, F3, Canon C300 and the new slow motion beast the FS700.
Philip brings a real passion, energy and dedication to a project no matter how big or small it is and promises to always deliver the absolute best that he can every single time.
In recent years Philip has toured the globe hosting workshops and sharing his experiences and best practices with professional and independent filmmakers. He has filmed, directed and edited short films, documentaries and much more from Clapham to Cambodia. In 2005 he was short listed for a BAFTA craft award for his series of short films for Sky News “If I were Prime Minister.” More recently though Philip worked with George Lucas as the 5D Cinematographer on the new WWII movie from Lucasfilms entitled “Red Tails”.
As one of the new breed of cinematographers, Philip has embraced the 35mm film adaptor market and the new line up of HDSLRs, in particular the Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 7D, and the newly released 5D Mark III and Nikon D800 - shooting HD video but making it look as close to 35mm film as possible. With the initial release of the Canon 5D Mark II, Philip quickly became the leading authority on how to properly use the new line of DSLRs through his blog.
With technology constantly changing, Philip continues to embrace the best gear needed to create the film look. His passion for filmmaking is contagious. He is truly a multi-skilled filmmaker having over twenty years experience as a cinematographer, director, editor and sound engineer.
